The Land
Aloha ʻĀina translates to love of the land, and you'll find that spirit throughout The Last Resort's 2-acre grounds. Guests love our exotic tropical flowers (and watching the pollinators that frequent them) as well as the pasture and ocean views. But the most stunning aspect of our ʻāina is a ~300-year old Banyan tree, which many old timers say is the oldest and most prolific they've seen in Kohala.
Agriculture
Cultivating produce for our community and guests is central to our mission. Not to mention, our regenerative agriculture methods improve the soil and increase biodiversity. The Last Resort's orchards have over 10 varieties of fruit trees, including Lychee, banana, SourSop, 'Ulu, avocado and several citrus varietals. You'll also find Taro, herbs, lettuces and more in our vegetable garden and micro-food forest.
Locals can purchase our produce each week and have it delivered to their doorstep via the Kohala Food Hub's online ordering system.
Art
We believe that art fosters cross-cultural understanding. Which is why you'll find paintings, stained glass, pottery and textiles created by local Hawaiian artisans throughout the homes on our Big Island estate. We've also engaged muralists to make our grounds more meaningful and engaging. The largest of these murals is 305 square foot depiction of Kohala's environment by local artist Emily Bee.
